Similarly, in Amman, Jordan, observing locals enjoying tea or playing games in cosy cafes can add a sense of culture to your images. Moreover, in Morocco, the traditional attire of the Berber people, with their colourful fabrics and jewellery, adds richness to the scene.

Try Different Angles and Perspectives

Don’t limit yourself to eye-level shots. Experimenting with different angles can create unique and visually interesting photos. In Egypt, for instance, photographing the giant columns of Karnak Temple from below makes them appear even more imposing. On the other hand, in Jordan, climbing to the top of the monastery in Petra offers a breathtaking view of the city. In Morocco, focus on capturing the intricate designs of the tiles in the medinas or the towering minarets from various perspectives.

Use leading lines to draw focus

Leading lines naturally guide the viewer’s eye through a photo and add depth. These lines help bring attention to your main subject. For example, in Egypt, the long rows of columns in ancient temples lead the viewer towards statues or entrances. Likewise, in Jordan, the narrow siq (gorge) that leads to Petra serves as a perfect leading line to highlight the famous Treasury. In Morocco, the winding streets of old medinas also serve as natural leading lines, drawing the eye deeper into the image.
